Apply now to join our PhD program in the life sciences, offered by the Max Planck Institute for Developmental Biology in conjunction with the Friedrich Miescher Laboratory and the Eberhard Karls University Tuebingen.
The special feature of our program is its emphasis on interdisciplinary interactions. We want to train the next generation of scientists to study complex biological processes that cannot be adequately understood within the limits of a single discipline. Research fields covered include:
Biochemistry and structural biology
Bioinformatics and computational biology
Molecular and cellular biology
Developmental biology and genetics
Genomics and proteomics
Evolutionary biology and ecology
Applicants should hold, or expect to hold, a degree in natural or computer science from a Masters, Diplom or equivalent program. In very rare cases, exceptionally talented students holding only a Bachelors degree may be admitted to the IMPRS.

Our online application period will open for new applications on January 1, 2017.

A four-day interview and discussion period will be held during April 24-27, 2017. Successful applicants will receive their invitation within 4 weeks of the application deadline. Travel expenses are reimbursed and free accommodation provided. Assistance with visa and travel arrangements is available.
Successful candidates will receive an offer by May 5, 2017 and must reply by May 12, 2017.
New PhD students should be ready to join the school at the beginning of September 2017. An earlier start (July/August 2016) is possible if the PhD advisor is in agreement.
